I'm Dakota, the founder of More Than Creative – a business and marketing agency built to help those who have turned their unique talents into businesses.
I love the art of storytelling and believe most marketing and sales comes down to connecting with people.
Owning a business is hard...but having a clear message and strategy helps.
In Episode 8 of More Than Creative, The Podcast, Dakota and Weston discuss the values of storytelling beyond what’s being shown in an Instagram post. They highlight the value in doing, creating, and writing things that you actually want to read and enjoy. Mentioning everything from Barbenhimer and Life Size to The Beatles and Nirvana to touch on the importance of showing and not telling.
Episode Description
Have you ever watched a reel or a TikTok and the person spends thirty seconds talking about why they’re filming the video? It’s just full of qualifiers and unnecessary context and it is taking forever for them to get to the point. You just want them to get on with it!
A lot of us do this. We ramble, we qualify, we are uncomfortable, so we take a while to get to the point, BUT there are ways around this.
Weston and I talk a few of these ways in EP 008 and we also discuss why it’s important for all of us to “show and not tell.”
